As part of the Public Service Act 2020, government agencies are required to develop a Long-term Insights Briefing (LTIB) to explore issues that matter for the future wellbeing of New Zealanders.

These briefings provide a unique mechanism to raise the profile of data and add to its value narrative. LTIBs are independent departmental advice on future challenges and opportunities – and the briefings will be readily available to all members of parliament and opposition parties (not just Ministers), as well as industry and the public.
Stats NZ would appreciate your views about whether we have the scope of our LTIB right. In particular, if there are opportunities for data or implications that we haven’t considered.
Submissions will be important to shaping the focus for the briefing and we will need to draw on industry expertise as the briefing develops.
