NZ’s Tech Story Workstream Update #01.2021

Current work underway

Planning for upcoming programme Define and Create phases, international engagement via NZTE Global Team survey in progress, International Perceptions Research briefing in progress.

Upcoming engagements and milestones

Domestic survey closes end of January; planning for analysis and report underway. The following activities scheduled for February: Workshops with ExportNZ / CreativeTech / Māori; international engagement via NZTE Global Team; international survey content development; scheduled communications regarding outputs of workshops; finalising supplier selection for Perceptions Research. Creating RFP’s and briefs to decide who will be used to create and design the assets.

Emerging themes

Positive feedback to-date regarding the need for a compelling Tech Story.  The themes of the Tech Story will be part of an outcome from surveys, interviews and workshops. Activation and uptake by the Industry will be key to the success.

Potential funding needs

Funding has been approved by MBIE. Sustainability of the story – discussions regarding ongoing funding for year 2 and 3 have been initiated.

Potential challenges

ExportNZ workshops cancelled due to low engagement with member base. Engagement across broad multiple stakeholder groups is consuming additional time resource. We consider it critical that our communications ensure buy-in and support across sectors and industry groups as we educate that tech is a horizontal not a sector/vertical story.

Digital Tech ITP The Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan is an industry / government collaboration to help grow the digital technologies sector as part of the New Zealand Government’s industry policy.
